Fix for a leaking window air conditioner

Window air conditioner, from left sideImage via Wikipedia
Do you use a window air conditioner in one of your rooms and it's leaking into the house?  This can happen on occasion and it's usually an easy fix.  The first thing to check is the slant of the unit.  If water is leaking back into the room it usually means that the unit is not leaning out enough.  As the window unit runs it pulls moisture from the air.  If it's properly installed the water drains out the back of the unit to the exterior.

If the unit is leaking to the interior, the first place to look is if the unit is leaned outward enough or at all.  It needs to be slanted slightly down on the outside so that the water runs out the rear of the unit and not to the front.  So go outside and put a level on it and make sure that it leans slightly down on the back.  This may take care of your  leak and put the water where it goes, outside.
