Hopefully you can see well enough in the photo, but I found this issue during a recent home inspection. The point where the steel support post connected to the deck were rusted almost completely through.
This could be a disastrous situation. The deck was around 15 feet off the ground and was about 30 feet wide. If the deck connections failed it would be a long fall down a steep hill.
